Dear all,
The economic crunch hit and I am now out of work.
This is not a big worry to me financially as I could retire at the end of next year and after 35 years my redundancy pay off is good.
But I am not used to being around the house all day, neither is my dear wife. My natural tendency will be to spend my time sat at the computer just like I used to at work) or watching TV.  The end result would be to turn into a vegetable.  Shocked

My request is that challenges will be put in front of me to ensure that I will be constantly taken from my seat and put into situations that will keep me alive mentally and physically and also to grow God's reputation in our community.

Thanks and God Bless

Hi Jason
So far all is well. I still wake up in the morning and think "Hey, I don't have to go to work today!" Maybe when I start to draw my pension I will feel different.  So it still feels a bit like a big holiday (vacation).
I am working against the obesity crisis by going to the gym three mornings a week. All those years of drive to work, sit at a desk, drive home watch TV have left their mark. My weight has dropped from 85kg to 84kg.  Not amazing but I feel healthier.
I have started monitoring which songs each of our worship leaders uses (and reporting this back) so we can be clear where we are overworking a popular song or where we may be venturing into new territory. I find this helpful for planning and I we all do.
My lovely wife identified a good garden project which has been satisfying (but my back hurts).  We had help from some students looking for help to pay their student loans in exchange for financial help but in the end I still had a lot of buckets of broken concrete and soil to carry out to the front to be taken away.
I still sit at the computer but I am still a big step away from vegetating.
All those prayers are obviously working.
