I am sure we all have one. Maybe it's the chords, tempo, melody or maybe it's the message.

I know for me it would be "Days of Elijah". I don't have an explanation but I have only played it once and that was enough.

I can see this becoming a bit of a battle ground.  Wink
I love "Days of Elijah" - however, the words are straight out of the Christian Ghetto and would require so much explanation to seekers and new believers, it would become a sermon in itself and our minister banned it from services.  Grin Grin
However, if I play the CD in the car I always sing along with a distinct rallentando on the first line of the chorus "Beeeeeeh0000old heeeeeeee coooooomes........"   Grin Grin

Oh my.... now that's enough to make me want to go find the song and listen to it... Smiley

Your minister banned it???

wow...

I like "My Jesus"  we did that a few weeks ago as a call to worship, just to have people listen to it.

Copied from Robin Mark's website. For an explanation of the words follow this link. http://www.robinmark.com/index.php?section=25

Maybe I used the word banned loosely - he expressed a wish that if this were to be included in a public worship service, it would have to be so relevant to the service theme that it required no explanation.  (I would add that he had similar reservations about "I will sing the wondrous story" and I have several times felt willing to accept the challenge to explain the language. This pulls together so many characters and thoughts that I have put it in my "if only..." list.

Days Of Elijah
These are the days of Elijah,
Declaring the word of the Lord:
And these are the days of Your servant Moses,
Righteousness being restored.
And though these are days of great trial,
Of famine and darkness and sword,
Still, we are the voice in the desert crying
'Prepare ye the way of the Lord!'

Behold He comes riding on the clouds,
Shining like the sun at the trumpet call;
Lift your voice, it's the year of jubilee,
And out of Zion's hill salvation comes.

These are the days of Ezekiel,
The dry bones becoming as flesh;
And these are the days of Your servant David,
Rebuilding a temple of praise.
These are the days of the harvest,
The fields are as white in Your world,
And we are the labourers in Your vineyard,
Declaring the word of the Lord!

There's no God like Jehovah.
There's no God like Jehovah!

I can't think of a least favourite worship song - I can only think of songs used out of place.  I'm sure there must be some out there but I guess they don't float to the top of my mind, which may mean that they got used once and were never to be seen again.

I sometimes get distracted by a line. For example, there is a Tim Hughes song, that irks me a little with a chorus that begins
    "Consuming fire, fan into flame
    A passion for your name."

    [/list]
And I think it is not the fire that doe the fanning it it the fire that is fanned. It distracts me but apart from this I like the song.  So I have just taught myself to like it.

The youth pastor, where we lead worship for, "banned" "More Love,  More Power". Is is written by Jude Del Hierro, done by Michael W. Smith. His premise was that God gives us all of His love and power and we don't need to ask for it.

We sang that at Church a few weeks ago.
When 19th century evangelist D.L. Moody, was asked why he said he needed to be filled continually with the Holy Spirit, he replied, “Because I leak!”  I have no problems asking God to manifest himself in our worship and my life.  I want to become more loving and more spiritually powerful and I can only achieve this through constantly inviting the Holy Spirit to give me more.

More love, more power, more of you in my life.

And I will worship You with all of my heart.
I will worship You with all of my mind.
I will worship You with all of my strength.
    For You are my Lord.

More love, more power, more of you in my life.

And I will seek Your face with all of my heart.
I will seek Your face with all of my mind.
I will seek Your face with all of my strength.
    For you are my God

More love, more power, more of you in my life.

I love both Days of Elijah and More Love, more power (but my husband does not like this one Undecided_)...

My least favorite is a very old one that I hear done "the same old way"...it was a song that was OVERDONE in it's day and I guess that it was ruined for me.
We bring the sacrifice of praise...
LOVE the words; agree with it but don't like the sing-songy melody. Sounds better a little slower to me.

Oh my that is a good one. When I first started drumming my mom was on the worship team and she ALWAYS wanted to do "We Bring the Sacrifice of Praise". I grew to dislike it for that reason but I agree the melody is not appealing.

Oh all right yes I have a least favourite song.. Shocked

I want to serve the purpose of God by Mark Altrogge. It's not the words, it's not the tune it's just that everytime I am asked to use it our rehearsal gets out of control with everyone having an opinion on how it should be sung.  Whatever it says in the song books (and they aren't consistent) no two recordings I have heard have been the same and I really want to throw my hands up in the air and pick an alternative. (I don't because my keyboard player, who is the only one who can be relied on to count the beats in the bars, had this as her baptism hymn and loves it  Smiley Smiley)

A friend of mine, who is the youth pastor at another church, was telling me that a few months ago 4 people got up and walked out of the worship service while they were singing "Days of Elijah."

It would be interesting to understand why they left, was it the the words, the music, the publication date?
Was it a matter of theology or taste?
